I'm going to try to post some pics of a few of the projects I've done in the past few months. The problem is I'm new to this transferring pics from my phone/camera to my computer. They have a communication problem. My phone is an iPhone. My computer is a Lenovo, based on Windows 8. This is not a marriage made in heaven. I know they can talk to one another. The difficulty for me is figuring it all out. Meanwhile, I'll email my photos to myself, save them to the computer and work from there.
I made the grands Easter clothes. I finished them in time for Lindsay's parents to take with them the first part of March. Here is Tessa's bishop. I must confess I did not construct the whole thing. Martha pullers website had a huge clearance sale and this ready to smock but otherwise finished dress was $8.00. I could not buy the fabric for that so this is the result.
T-strap sandals are a cute finish with obligatory fancy socks to celebrate.
I used my embroidery sewing machine and the design from Planet Applique to create this button on suit pattern for Weston.
Colton is growing up so I made him a shirt with piped collar to go with purchased pants from H & M.
Weston's shorts and Colton's shirt are made from a seersucker that was unilaterally symetrical. It required careful and creative cutting to match the stripes and get it at least close to perfect. I might have been the only one to notice, but yes, I would know.
Their mama, Lindsay, participated in the Rome marathon. Her mom, Paula and dad, Greg, ran with her. Paula called a couple of weeks before the race to see if I could come up with so,etching for the grands to wear as they were cheering for their mama. This is what I came up with. It was a total
surprise to Lindsay and I think she was thrilled with the results.
The cuteness of the children totally overshadows the simple shirts, but I wouldn't have it any other way!
I also finished a quilt for new great nephew Tommy Ross, son of Steven and Sarah. This precious third baby will not be left out! It is an adaptation of the Puddle Jumping Pattern by Thimbleblossoms Quilts. I used a Riley Blake fat quarter bundle I had purchased at International Quilt Market a couple of years ago. Light blue minky on the back insures it will be especially cuddly!
I completed this quilt for another new great nephew, Charlie Moody, son of John and Becca. Lots of great grands for our family! I went modern using a charm pack of Sunshine by Kate Spain for Moda Fabrics. I made half square triangles with a white on white background and arranged them ombré fashion. Light to dark, dark to light to make an assymetrical chevron design. I was pleased with the result. Backed in a lime green minky, this coordinates with the darling nursery Becca so lovingly created for Charlie!
I've also been hard at work on 24 blocks for a paint chip challenge for the Westside Quilters. We were given a collection of autumn inspired paint chips to choose fabrics that matched. Then we were to choose and make 24- 12" blocks to be swapped. Each of the 24 participants will end up with 24 blocks to arrange in a quilt setting of her choosing. The swap is April 8. I finished about a week ahead of schedule. Yippee!
Also on my to-done list is another round on a round robin quilt. That requires a blog post all it's own. The work I've done must remain secret until July when we reveal all the work we've complete for our team this year.
I joined a group of ladies called DeBOM. Somehow, cough,cough, we have unfinished Blocks Of the Month amongst our stashes. Each of us was assigned a month. We bring our UFOBOM to our friends and they finish a block for us! With 12 participants, each of us will have finished quilt tops at the end of the year! This month we completed a block for Sabrina's Amish BOM from 1997. Don't shake your head. Mine is from 1998.
